It is difficult to imagine what life would be without the teddy bear. However, not always so. Part 1 of this three part history of this series guide you teddy bear during the first years of the early 1900s. What is interesting about the history of the teddy bear is the fact that its origin was in the same year in two different parts of the world. One in the United States during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt and the other Germany. It is the story of the teddy bear.
In the 1900s, 1902 to be exact, a cartoonist named Clifford Berryman drew a cartoon called "Draw the Line in Mississippi." He was then President Theodore Roosevelt refusing to shoot a baby bear that his men had captured and tied to a tree. It is said that Roosevelt had traveled to Mississippi to help settle a border dispute. To help please the president, his hosts will hunt, but due to hunting was so poor, his men captured a small bear and the bear tied to a tree for the president of the fire. Roosevelt refused. This story was later captured in a drawing of Berryman.
Following its initial publication in the Washington Post, November 16, 1902, the comic has created an immediate sensation, and was then reprinted in other newspapers. As a newspaper in New York. Here, this cartoon inspired Morris and Rose Michtom create a bear in honor of President's actions. Rose Michtom made a bear called "Teddy Bear", recorded in his window which immediately sold. He then founded the Ideal Novelty and Toy Company, the leading manufacturer of teddy bears in the United States. During discovery, Michtom wrote to the president and asked permission to use the name "Teddy" in his honor. The President agreed.
Simultaneously, Germany, the nephew of Margarete Steiff was working on his business plush toy [Steiff] and had drawn sketches of bears who were at the zoo in Stuttgart. These designs are used to create a prototype of a teddy bear. Several months later, Steiff introduced his first bear at the Toy Fair in Leipzig. Although European buyers showed little interest, there is a growing interest in the bear "in the United States because of the publicity surrounding the President and the CUB. In 1906, the United States was in the midst of a craze teddy bear. It would be comparable to the madness of dolls Cabbage Patch in the 1980s and the latest Beanie Baby craze of the 1990s. I have a Dora the Explorers made by Gund has been done China. Is it a toy you remember the list because it has chemicals, lead, etc.
