SIDS is the leading cause of death among infants who have one month to one year of age. Despite years of research and studies SIDS is still unpredictableand largely unavoidable. However, research on the causes of SIDS has led doctors to recommend that parents can take to reduce the risk of SIDS. In typical check the status of parents on the baby to sleep or find
their dead. Obviously, this is Perhaps the worst tragedy of parents may face and can impact their lives forever.
According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the incidence of sudden death is highest in infants under 6 months of age and increases during the cold season. The possible risk factors include:
~ From smoke, drink or use drugs during pregnancy
Prenatal Care ~
~ Birth weight preterm or low
~ Mothers under 20
~ Exposure to smoke after birth
~ Children sleeping on the stomach
Unfortunately, all deaths of small islands can not be avoided. However, there are things you can do to reduce the risk of SIDS. Fortunately, the incidence of SIDS is declining, as parents follow these recommendations.
Perhaps the recommendation most widely accepted is that babies sleep on their backs. Babies sleeping on their stomachs and the parties have a higher rate of SIDS that babies who sleep on their backs. Heavy covers are also associated with risk of SIDS. Therefore, there should be nothing in the
bed but the baby – No blankets, quilts, blankets, pillows, cushions and toys.
What a sleeping bag?
The sleeping bag is a coverage blankets and clothes to replace the leaves on top of the bed to sleep safer. It also encourages the baby to sleep on their backs. It is well known that babies should be put to sleep on their backs, but not as well known are the potential hazards of a cloth under the baby's head and overheating using the beds too.
The sleeping bag will keep the baby's head uncovered, therefore reducing the risk of suffocation. Without the bed covers is reduced risk of SIDS.
Sleeping bags for babies have been safely used in Europe for over 20 years. Studies clinics in Holland have found that baby sleeping bags are potentially the safest form of bedding for babies, as long as the baby is placed in the correct size bag and wears clothes enough sleep. Therefore, the baby can sleep safely at a temperature nice and steady throughout the night.
What should baby wear under sleeping bag?
This will depend on the type of Sleep Sack (flannel or quilted) and temperature of the baby's room. Health professionals recommend that baby sleeping in a room which is about 18 ° C (65 ° F). If the nursery is warmer or colder, simply adjust the level of baby clothing is used, ie short-sleeved dress or long pajamas with long sleeves. (In the same way that you want to adjust their own clothes to sleep).

Should I use a sleeping bag, blanket or just leave w / a Footsie?
I have 3 months old, I just put in the manger. in the car he had a blanket on top of the cradle, but in the cradle, I was told or blankets. I just have it in Footsies … seems rather hot. You just put their babies in the cradle w / no covers?
I always used Footie pajamas until one year of age. You do not want to overheat a baby, either. Can contribute to SIDS. There are covers for the moment. Congratulations on your new baby!
