Most of you have heard of SIDS, or sudden death syndrome in infants. It is very important that all parents of newborns know, I decided to write a short article on the subject.

What exactly is the syndrome of sudden infant death

This event describes a very tragic when a baby dies suddenly for no apparent reason and very unexpected. Some other names for this syndrome have heard of May are "maternal deaths" or " crib death. "They all describe the same event: A child drowns in her crib. The majority of confirmed cases occur between 2 to 4 months old. But you must know, that can happen to babies up to one year of age.

What to do to reduce risks

Always save your precious little sleep on their backs. After the baby is six months old may not have too much influence on him. But in the meantime, keep This rule always very important.

Always make all the dolls and toys from the crib.

Avoid carpet wear. May fear that your baby will be injured in the head. But think of the consequences of asphyxiation – is worse than just hurt by a blow to the head.

Using a monitor baby's breathing patterns – are available that connect directly to the belt layer of your baby, or lining of a sensor that is placed under the mattress of your baby. Ring the alarm immediately if not recorded the movements of 20 seconds.

Studies have shown that breastfeeding your baby has also considerably reduced the risks. Also, if you sleep with your baby the same room, which is always there for him and therefore more alert. Use a fan for air circulation when your baby sleeps.

Finally, Studies have also shown that the use of pacifiers reduce the risk. Doctors do not know exactly why, but in the end does not really count. So, if you follow all these rules, your baby is much safer.

But what are the risk factors

The parents are smoking, alcohol or drugs. (Reason: less warning)

Baby born with low weight at birth.

Baby born prematurely.

Baby born less than a year after the last brother.

The baby is overweight.

The mother was overweight.

The baby born to a teenage mother.

The room is too hot. The ideal temperature is around 21 degrees Celsius.

The baby is anemic. (Problem of oxygen)

The room where the baby sleeps has mold on it. Affecting baby lungs.

The baby is sleeping on a soft surface like a couch or beanbag.

Some of these risk factors, some of you can not do anything about it. But others are obvious choices that can and should be avoided. You can not do if your baby was born prematurely. But you should stop taking drugs or alcohol.

Now there's a whole other debate about the fact sleeping with your baby. Some argue that prevents sudden infant death. Others think it might even increase the chances for the fact that your own baby can choke. Everyone must make his own choices. What can you do if you co-sleep is to remove excess bedding, be vigilant and not drunk.

Then there are all sorts of new inventions that also reduce risks. For example, a Company comes with a special mattress has millions of tiny holes in it that allows air through. Although May your baby sleep on his stomach, would still air in the mattress. Vomit also cause leaks. And even reduces overheating and sweating.

And my last advice to you parents always concerned about your baby. If you have a bad feeling about something, he better check twice to complain. If you feel better If you have a breathing monitor in the courtyard of her baby, then get one. If your baby has a cough, take him to the doctor to check lungs. Do not dress the baby. I know you want the best for your baby. But sometimes (smart clothes) less is more. Some people do not blankets because they are afraid of choking hazards. There are sleeping bags baby there who can not pass on your baby's head. And advised to keep the temperature 21 degrees.

For more than 7 years Julia works closely with babies. One of her latest websites she created was http://babymonitormovement.org/. It reviews the most widely used Baby Monitor Movement Sensors that help you monitor your baby’s breathing and thus reduce the risks of SIDS.
