Archaeologists tell us that dolls have been around for a long, long time – thousands of years in fact. Ancient Civilizations such as the Babylonians and Greeks had. When the dolls were mainly used as toys for children who are usually constructed very simply, using materials of daily use, such as wood or clay or stone.
As human society moved to industrial era, it became possible to produce less oil, toys and more sophisticated as dolls. Whereas generations previous May girls played with dolls that were very simply made from pieces of fabric and filled with leaves and straw – the girls play today with anatomically correct dolls are equipped with high fashion accessories. And it is perhaps no other area of the Doll Collection is now more popular collection of porcelain dolls.
Porcelain dolls – The manufacturing process
Porcelain is actually a form refined clay important. In the process of making porcelain dolls, water and mix the clay. This clay state liquid (or at least a very liquid state) is poured or injected into a mold of the head. The mold is placed in an oven and baked thousands of degrees. The head china (and the head is what is usually made of porcelain), then it can be embellished by facial features.
In addition, the heads Porcelain dolls are typically glass after being decorated. This glazing adds strength and durability of the porcelain. You can find dolls that are advertised as "bisque" – It is simply porcelain that has been left unglazed. As you can imagine, Bisque is very fragile.

Do your research!
Before making a purchase so looking for the piece thoroughly. Look for distinguishing marks on his wrist – Marks and numbers are often found near the neck or head, or sometimes along the back of the wrist. Note the size and accessories that can be attached to your wrist.
Once that you have carefully examined the piece you want to buy, you can consult a number of different sources on the Internet or printed, in an effort to locate and verify the manufacturer, date and place of manufacture.
It is essential that you learn to do your own research before shopping. During a period time that should be a treasure of knowledge – if not always having to rely on knowledge of the third party "experts." of collection of porcelain dolls is the general condition of the room. The porcelain is cracked or broken, or possession of the areas where the paint disappeared, worth less than dolls are in perfect condition.
Another thing that may affect the value of your wrist accessories. If your wrist its original accessories (such as shoes and hats and bags) to a value greater than the doll itself. In addition, it has the original packaging (box or other container) will help increase the value of your porcelain dolls.
One last thought on accessories: it is very easy to take an old doll whose accessories are in tatters and replacement accessories that are in better condition. For this reason, make sure that all accessories for the doll comes with faith. Beware of porcelain dolls that are sold as very old, but it has the clothes or other accessories that seem to be very new – especially if the fabrics look like they are synthetic, as these types of tissue are not developed until much later.
