What is the difference between Japanese and American humor?

Someone told me that you understand the Japanese and humor is different from North American humor is different and how can I have an example of Japanese humor and can compare the two? Please answer!

People who do not understand the Japanese language are often under the false illusion that Japanese humor is quite a joker, because it all they understand when they see a small subset of videos from Japanese television believed to be understandable by people in the United States they do not understand the Japanese language. In fact, the Japanese humor is usually puns that language is full of homonyms, which are not translated into English. An example is the following statement: "A fool August is twice as stupid as an April Fool. "This does not seem logical at all in English, we will So try another translation: "A Month 8 (August) is twice as dumb as dumb as a 4th month (April) fool." Now the Japanese word game begins to be logical, right? Do not use English numbers in the month, unless you know in America (December = 10th month in Latin, but the New Year was moved from March to January, most of the English for speakers do not understand the original meaning of "December", the 10th month of age). It was a very simple example. Most of homonymous puns involve much more depth on the basis of the pseudo-pronunciation of Chinese characters, and it would be much more difficult to explain in English. But still great fun once you learn Japanese.
