The first step in training a search dog is to start with a clean dog. You want a puppy, if possible. I have a York Shire Terrier (I think) and HES really love a dog with me and my family but not strangers?
It is a puppy mill, but less than 6 months after being rescued. Now a year and a half and was still people who feel threatened. Is this characteristic terrier or behavioral problem is "cured"?
