One hundred of cotton cloth per cent is usually the choice for quilting fabric used by the experienced quilt makers. The main reason of cotton is easy easy to mark, cut, sew and press, which is very easy to work, and cotton is very durable. Not only resistance cotton and sustainable, has a tensile strength higher.

This wonderful fabric is very soft, hypoallergenic, ie, not not irritate sensitive skin or allergies. We therefore also good for asthmatics. The ends of cotton fibers do not irritate skin or cause electrical static because they are very well spun into yarn.

Another advantage is that cotton can easily dyed in a rainbow of colors because it is very absorbent. This gives us all the colors and shades very different values and hues of our upholstery. The colors and color values can your design to be seen. Their fabric selection is one of the most important parts of a quilting project.

This capability absorption is not only an advantage of the color, but also a boon for the health and comfort. Cotton absorbs moisture easily and absorb body moisture and evaporate into the air. This allows your body to breathe and keep you cool and dry in summer and warm in winter. Quilting cotton fabrics also keep you cool, because cotton is a good conductor of heat and extract heat from your skin to keep you cool.

Quilters Another reason to prefer cotton is easy to keep clean. It can be washed in washing cotton with the warmer water temperature and available virtually any detergent and bleach. Cotton, you can even boil! The cotton fibers are thirty percent stronger when wet and cope with repeated washings are free electricity static. This is important because the tissue causes static electricity and cling to the ground with ease.

When to Use hundred percent cotton, most colors will not fade with repeated washings. Some dark colors like black and navy may, however, lose some of its vitality over time, especially when using strong detergents and a hot dryer.

Quilting cotton fabrics made one hundred percent the best of both worlds, the brightness and abundance of colors combined with strength and ease of maintenance.

How do I get the colors ran out of my house cotton quilt?

20 years ago I had a sewing machine, patchwork of cotton gingham. For 10 years, has been stored, then began to use it. I washed often without any problem. We just go to Minnesota, and I had to start washing more (I have a baby …). Anyway, I just started to realize that the colors dark seem to be bleeding colors. (Does freshwater Minnesota doing that?) I do not think it has gone through the dryer so that the colors have not been established in this way. How can I stop (and hopefully vice versa) with the bleeding?

It looks like a work of "hunters of color" http://www.shoutitout.com/preserve-colors.aspx and / or a bath with looooong Retayne: http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/ 2935174-AA.shtml followed by a wash along with something like synthrapol. Retayne I use cotton, but I know that many Quilters are happy with the color sensors.
