This is not so much a novel as a novel, and a brief in which being that of 93 small pages in length. But do not put you off: it is an excellent reading.
It opened in 1930 in Germany, in a smart school where children aged 15/16 years of age, young men are friends, apparently for life. How do they know that many lives were so tragically cut short?
After startup chaotic for the timid Hans Schwarz became friends with more confidence and aristocratic Konradin. Hans is Jewish and that the time factor invades their friendship.
This period of history has been chronicled a thousand times, and rightly so, because there are lessons that resonate to this day. All the characters are memorable and well developed and mostly decent human beings. Then, when everything started to go wrong?
The book also contains two pages of introduction written by the late reading and many failed Arthur Koestler, and the value of their own.
Meeting was very well written and easy to read, and it is certainly a book for those who can not afford the huge volumes that so often dominate the bookstores. There is a new book either, but do not be discouraged because it is so memorable, and a story that lives forever in memory.
Jeffrey Archer wrote of the meeting: "I wish I had written this." Certainly not the only one, no less than his correspondent.
