Baby Sweets

Her mother told you, her best friend, your aunt or your pediatrician, everyone says

"Do not give your baby before fruits or vegetables Gonna Get hungry! "

Another variant of this advice often given is that you should not bring food before eating orange green. Is there any reliable medical evidence that suggests that the fruit before the introduction of plants or orange before green undoubtedly bring baby sweet? The answer is no, there is no medical evidence to show that your baby gets a sweet tooth, if offered bananas before peas! As many fear sweet potatoes before the introduction of green beans will develop a sweet tooth, there have been few studies showing the order of food solid baby not really matters is entered (taking into account the potential allergens and age appropriate that is).

Food infants and children (FITS) the 2002 study, conducted by Mathematica Policy Research and sponsored by Gerber Products Co., found that one found that babies of 4-6 months are acquiring a "sweet tooth". This configuration of the principles of a sweet tooth is not due to give parents the sweet peas before, or even due to the supply of bananas before green beans. The study revealed that "10% from 4 to 6 months age eat desserts, sweets or sweetened drinks per day and when they are 2, 60% of children eat any type of pasta every day. "The study also found that" infants and toddlers are also learning early to meet their gluttony. "While the sugar was removed from baby food more hit in the mid-1990s, the baby food companies continue to offer lines of desserts with flavors such as vanilla custard pudding and cobbler fishery, loaded with sugar and starch.

"Early exposure to intensely sweet foods has long term consequences," said Amy Lanou, a nutrition scientist for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Washington-based nonprofit. "When we are young, our taste buds are specially adapted to the tastes sweet. If offered bananas and berries at an early age that has the level of sweetness. But if you get candy concentrated the intense sweetness to you for the rest of his life. "

Is there an advantage of a sweet food as the first meal? One benefits of providing more "soft" power as a first food is just that, a sweet and pleasant. Starting Solid Foods is a new experience for a baby and advocate more likely to make the experience as pleasant as possible. By offering your baby a banana or sweet potato as an experience of the first meal, your baby may be less likely to refuse food and possibly reject any attempt introduce solid foods. Another option for the introduction of solid foods advocated by many, is to offer a fruit, vegetable, fruit and vegetables, then another and so on.

While science shows that babies are indeed inclined to prefer sugary foods – milk breast is soft, after all – babies do not develop a sweet tooth "bad" unless the parent provides food, including large quantities of sugar (no fruit sugars!) and other sweeteners and artificially sweetened foods. Other medical recommendations clear that the order of introduction solid foods to baby, never mind. You must of course keep food allergies and adaptation to age in mind.

The Start healthy eating habits for children 6 to 24 months, concludes that "no evidence of a benefit from the introduction of complementary foods any specific sequence or at any rate. "The guidelines were published in the March 2004 edition of the Journal of the American Association and also appear on the NRC's Web site. These guidelines were developed jointly by the American Dietetic Association and Gerber Food Products Company with management and supervision by a group of academic specialists in pediatric nutrition. The group included scientists Dr. William Heird NRC and Dr. Nancy Butte, a professor at Tufts University Johanna Dwyer, a professor at Indiana University Dr. Karyl Rickard, WIC project nutritionist Laura Graney, and nutrition consultant Kathleen Cobb.

"We found that some recommendations on the order in which foods supplements should be introduced and how often is necessary to introduce new foods are not based on sound scientific evidence. In Consequently, new guidelines are more flexible in these areas, "He said. (NRC scientists Dr. William Heird)

Lines Guidelines were published in the March 2004 edition of the Journal of American Dietetic Association and also appear on the NRC's Web site. The specific issue research and conclusion are the following:

Research question: how fast and in what order the complementary foods should be introduced?

Conclusion: No evidence of a benefit for the introduction of complementary foods at any specific sequence or in any specific case. However, it is generally recommended that first solid food the only food ingredient and you've started one at a time at intervals of 2 to 7 days. The order of introduction of complementary foods is not critical, except to provide elements nutrients required from complementary foods. Combination Foods (instead of a single food ingredient) may be administered to children after the tolerance of individual components have been established.

Serve the potatoes and sweet peaches and bananas and not afraid to develop a sweet tooth! Offering a variety of foods, both naturally sweet and unsweetened, that help expand and clear the mouth of your baby. Stay away from baby "desserts" and other baby foods trade such as cereals or yogurt mixed with fruit. These foods often contain added sugars that your baby is simply not necessary and can give your baby the real sweet tooth, which seeks to avoid!

My daughter has not had something really sweet. She had some homemade hot cocoa, but only a spoonful of scraping and did not realize that there are really sweet after I gave him a taste. : 0 She loved anyway. When it is large enough things sweetened with honey, probably about an average year. We use honey as a sweetener because it is generally healthier. We also use Stevia, agave, brown sugar, etc. So, I'm not worried. Not like you're eating processed white sugar or syrup corn high fructose or something. ICKY
